Windows by the Street is a series of illustrations representing people and objects discovered and observed during my numerous walks in the neighbourhood, in the Islington council of London. I started this project in October 2020 for my MA Illustration course at Camberwell. I wanted to find a way to connect with the area I was living in, during a difficult time to build relationships. The window is both object and means of the project; moreover, is the frame of the thousands of stories narrated.
I see myself as an investigator and author of the intimate space. Imagination and memories reached what my sight could not.
Walks have played an essential role in my practice, they allowed me to explore and to take records of detail of everyday life that often go unnoticed, according to my needs. All the illustrations come from fast and often incomplete sketches that I took on the way.
