Nicola Singh is an artist, curator and producer based in the North East of England. Her practice integrates live performance, visual art and experimental music - questioning our understanding of the ways in which we interact with, create and are affected by our environment, through movement and sound.
She has shown work at The Prague Quadrennial Festival 2011, Freud Museum, Battersea Arts Centre, Bristol Arnolfini and Whitechapel Gallery. Awards and training include Curating Artistic Research As Output with Bristol University, BALTIC Artist Mentoring Programme, Edinburgh International Artist Summer School and Clore Emerging Leader Short Course.
Since 2009, she has worked as an independent curator, producer and researcher on freelance and self initiated projects, including ~Flow, AV Festival, Wunderbar Festival, Kingston Universities MA Theatre Programme and Central St. Martin’s School of Art and Design. She is a founding member of new performance and theatre company Tender Buttons and studio holder at The NewBridge Project.
Nicola holds a degree in Contemporary Music Performance & Visual Arts from Dartington College of Arts (2008) and a Masters (Distinction) in Curating from Sunderland University (2011). She is currently studying for a practice-led MRes in Performance at Northumbria University.
