Statement

My current art practice has at its core the discipline of walking. Recent walking-work was exhibited in a solo show in a gallery in the west of Ireland. In this work my concern was to walk the landscape of my ancestors and to mark the baron, wind-swept, rural domain with symbols of a domestic urban lifestyle. The landscape in this case had a personal connection, it being my ancestral tribal ground and the walking performance, the marking, signing, documenting and interventions were a testament to the value of this ground, as yet untouched, places of nature, with its 'isolation' for our future and that of our descendents.
