I am a printmaker, photographer and performance artist. The thread that weaves the different elements together is walking. My current practice is centred upon a Neolithic cup marked rock on Ilkley Moor. The power of this ritual object is animated by movement: walking and sightlines. The Stone is a statutory monument with a two metre liminal boundary. My practice is formulated as 'performance mapping' as I am mapping and remapping the site. Performance mapping is my method for crossing into liminal space. I respond to the power of the Stone using human and non human agency. I make extended linear printworks which are then walked to the Stone and then performed by human agents and by the non human agency of wind and water. I also make projection pieces at the Stone most recently the final event of the Ilkley Art trail October 2015. The audience as participants were taken on a walk to the Stone in the dark. The Stone gradually revealed itself to them in a language of light and colour referencing the archaeology of the site whereby marked stones were possibly originally coloured.
