I like to set definate courses on undetermined and improvised routes. No arty directionless Flaneur stuff though, always have a goal to achieve and destination, even if that goal changes half way through an expedition through my local environs.
I am in my element stumbling around on derilict sites, mentally investigating traces of recent activity. I actively seek out these abandoned brownfield locations which are slowly reverting to their natural unplanned state. Walking and exploring is a way of connecting to the landscape through imaginative reconstruction of the past and developing a feel for how landforms or architecture have evolved and become the way they are today.
I collect sights and sounds on my trips, which often get recycled into object based art works.
