Elke Schmid is a freelance director and trainer for good walking (GUT GEHEN). Studied theater and history in Munich. Acting trainings based on walking with Gerhardt Rieckmann. In 2001, co-founded the Mannheim artists' house zeitraumexit, which she co-directed until 2009. In her work as a director, she has been exploring "underacting" as an authentic stage language related to film for more than 25 years with her label EX!T Ausgangspunkt Theater. Since 2009 in Berlin, Schmid focuses her work on/with walking in trainings, workshops and performances. So far, she has developed numerous specialized formats under her main label GUT GEHEN. She also participated in several walks with Hamish Fulton. 2015 together with Thomas Schütt she founded the Berlin school of strolling ÉCOLEFLÂNEURS.
