Åse Vikse refers to herself as a wandering artist and her work is research-based with a strong focus on a process-led practice. As a printmaker, she works both with traditional techniques, as well as more contemporary Monoprints. The latter often takes shape as Artist Maps that embody themselves in a physical and mental encounter with the landscape, where the artwork and the artist absorb the surroundings together. 'As ‘a wanderer in the landscape’, I describe my process as being present while being active as the methodology of how to observe my surroundings and the shifting landscape I move in, and for creating an image of the area both cognitively and physically.'
